Interior Design Program Director
Maryse Jospitre is an NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer with extensive commercial design experience across Miami, Washington, D.C., and New York City. She holds a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from Florida A&M University.
Her professional background includes working with prominent architectural firms along the East Coast, where she contributed her skills in space planning and codes implementation to projects ranging from historic renovations to new construction. Maryse’s portfolio spans office buildings, multi-rise residential complexes, retail spaces, private residences, restaurant design, and assisted living facilities.
In 2006, Maryse relocated to Phoenix, where she began teaching at The Art Institute of Phoenix. She joined the Maricopa Community Colleges in 2019, starting with Scottsdale Community College, and now serves as the Program Director for Interior Design at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCollege. In this role, she collaborates closely with faculty and students across campuses to ensure the program remains innovative, comprehensive, and aligned with evolving industry standards.
Courses Taught: Color and Design, Professional Practices, Lighting, Commercial Design, Interior Codes and Regulations, Drawing and Rendering Studio, Custom Design Studio, and Residential Design Studio.

After a rewarding career in education, including experience as a principal, district administrator and trainer, Jewell returned to school to get a degree in Interior Design. She is a member of ASID Arizona North where she was on the Board of Directors for five years, serving as the President of the organization in 2012. She has received five Design Excellence Awards from the chapter in residential
design, office design, bathroom design, furniture design and model spaces. She enjoys supporting other chapters by judging their design competitions. Her passion for design led her to teach interior design courses at Glendale Community College and Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCollege including INT 101 – Introduction to Interior Design, INT 170 – Interior Materials and INT 242 – Professional Practices for Interior Designers. She has been an adjunct instructor for fourteen years. In addition to teaching, Jewell maintains her design business.

Karin is both an Air Force veteran and a University of Arizona alumni. After working in the computer Karin is a proud U.S. Air Force veteran and University of Arizona alumna whose career path reflects both technical expertise and creative passion. After spending 15 years in the computer industry, she returned to school in 2014 to pursue her long-held dream of becoming an interior designer.
After earning dual Degrees in Interior Design and Architectural Technologies from Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCollege and Scottsdale Community College, she founded Rockin’ K Designs, LLC, where she continues to lead a successful residential interior design practice serving clients throughout Arizona’s West Valley.
Karin returned to Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCollege in 2019 as an Adjunct Faculty member, where she teaches AutoCAD and shares her industry experience with future designers.Karin is honored to be both a graduate and instructor at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCollege—Go Bears!

Roberto Hernandez is an accomplished designer and educator with a Master’s degree in Architecture from Iowa State University. He serves as an Interior Design Instructor at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCollege, where he integrates professional practice with academic rigor to inspire the next generation of designers.
Mr. Hernandez’s teaching emphasizes the development of strong design fundamentals, spatial awareness, and a comprehensive understanding of architectural principles within interior environments. His approach bridges the gap between conceptual design thinking and practical application, preparing students to excel in both academic and professional settings.

Diana is a LEED-Accredited Professional (ID+C) and interior designer with extensive experience in residential, commercial, and retail design. A graduate of Arizona State University, she has taught Sustainable Design and Construction at Mesa Community College, and Space Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ Studio currently at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCollege. Diana brings decades of professional practice and a passion for sustainability to her teaching, inspiring students to create thoughtful, enduring interior environments.

As the owner of Design Works Interiors, a design firm she founded in Florida, Susan Nicholson has worked in a variety of areas in both commercial and residential design. Her work ranges from adaptive reuse of historic buildings to ground up residential construction and interiors and furnishings.
Interior Design is her second career. Like so many, she changed directions in her career path and has proved that following your passion pays off! She has taught Interior Design classes in Florida and Arizona and has also served as an NCIDQ Ambassador and on the Boards of ASID, NKBA and IIDA. Susan strongly believes in the value professional Interior Design brings to the quality of life and hopes that you share that belief.

Born in the Middle East, Abeer’s journey has been filled with adventure and growth. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in languages and education, she spent 10 rewarding years as an elementary school teacher. After moving to a neighboring country for a year of studies, she met her Arizona-born husband and were soon married and began building their family. In 2014, having relocated to Arizona with their two sons, she pursued her passion for design. Abeer studied Interior Design at Scottsdale Community College, graduating with the highest distinction in 2021. In 2022, Abeer was honored with first place in the Student Residential Conceptual Design category by ASID Arizona North Chapter.
Abeer is currently running her own design business that was launched in 2023.

Barb Piraino brings over two decades of hands-on experience in small business ownership and craftsmanship to her teaching. After successfully owning and operating a print shop with her husband for 18 years, Barb expanded her creative expertise by launching an upholstery business with her sister. Building on that success, she began teaching upholstery in 2007 at Glendale Community College and has since become a valued instructor at Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµCollege, where she has led the ever-popular upholstery courses for more than a decade.

Nicole Reddin is an accomplished design and business professional with extensive experience in both residential and commercial markets. She currently oversees Business Development, Residential and Commercial Sales, Marketing, and Showroom Operations at Clayton Floor Covering and Design. In addition, Nicole works alongside her employer in managing Design Group, a specialized event flooring company serving high-profile venues and events such as the WM Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµOpen, Formula 1, Pebble Beach, and BMW. Beyond her professional work, Nicole serves as the President of Arizona Assistance in Healthcare, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients with their non-medical needs. As a valued member of MCCC, she also enjoys life with her daughter, Savannah, and their dog, Maui.

Fayrooz Sweis is an interior designer, sustainability specialist, and design educator with experience in residential, hospitality, and commercial design, as well as applied sustainable design solutions for buildings and urban environments. With four years of experience as adjunct faculty, Fayrooz has taught design courses that integrate design theory, technology, and practice. In addition to her teaching, Fayrooz actively supports design and sustainability students through guest lectures, classroom presentations, and mentorship programs.
